Treat the crack. Protect the surrounding asphalt.
When does crack filling make sense?
Open cracks let water reach below the surface. Treating suitable cracks helps limit that entry and the damage that moisture and freezing can contribute to.
It’s most useful when individual cracks have sound pavement around them. Connected, crumbling cracks or sunken areas need a closer assessment of the pavement beneath.
How are the cracks treated?
The cracks are inspected, cleaned of dirt and loose debris, and dried as the material requires. Suitable filling material is applied into the openings and finished at the surface. Good preparation helps it adhere.
Expect visible treated lines, not an invisible repair. Asphalt still moves with temperature changes, so inspect treated cracks over time and address any reopened areas.
They came out, assessed everything, and were totally transparent about what needed to be done and why.
